trainings that the Safe Zone Advisory Board facilitates are required to be certified as a Safe Zone ally at Mississippi State University. We take attendance at every training, and you will be notified when you complete 3 trainings. Safe Zone allies will receive a certification, an ally sticker, and an ally pin to be visible on campus and actively support LGBTQ+ individuals. 

3 Core Trainings

Safe Zone Awareness Training

Safe Zone Awareness Training is a main introductory training in which participants can gain basic understanding of the LGBTQ+ community and issues that they face in everyday life. Participants can also gain knowledge and skills to be a Safe Zone ally on campus. This training is mandatory to become a Safe Zone ally.

Gender 101

Gender 101 explores the concept of gender and sex (including biological sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, and gender expressions) deeply.

Ally Training “Building Allies & Supportive Environments

Ally Training is an interactive training and focuses on what it means to be an Ally, increasing Ally confidence in their ability to support the LGBTQ+ community, and discussing ideas for creating a safe environment for LGBTQ+ individuals.

 

Other Trainings and Programs

In addition to 3 core trainings, the Safe Zone Advisory Board facilitates more trainings and programs that focus on various topics that are related to the LGBTQ+ community.
